Hi.
The first two pages of the rough draft of my second book, “Big Boobs + Thigh Gap: a journey beyond body obsession” were shared in Day 79’s post, here.
The book is evolving as I write it, as all creative projects tend to do. (It’s like the original idea is the doorway to the ACTUAL idea. Once we start walking, the real heart of the project unveils itself.)
So… What I’m saying is… These pages I’m sharing with you are, like, limited edition. These will never be shared again. (I mean, they’ll eventually be published, but not THIS version.)
There are many purposes to my writing this book. Mostly, though, it’s to give a behind-the-scenes view into the mind and heart of a young girl and teenager and young adult and woman struggling with body obsession and defining herself based on external validation.
My first book is about my spiritual awakening, sobriety, depression, and suicidality. This second book is about my mental and physical awakening, as well as how I’ve freed myself from the shackles of body obsession (and an eating disorder).
It hasn’t been easy. It hasn’t been quick. But oh my goodness, the freedom I feel now is something I desperately yearn to share with as many people as possible.
So… That’s why I write.
Here are pages 4 and 5 of the rough draft. (Yea, I skipped sharing page 3. Gotta’ keep some mystery here.)
Do you remember how old you were when you become conscious of societal expectations of how you “should” look? Share in the comments; I’d love to hear.
